4A for Gold!

It's been an exciting week, ending with making model volcanoes! It was a fun experience for the students and me! Rest up this weekend to get ready next week. Here is a look into next week:

Math: This upcoming week, students will start their study of decimals. In fourth grade, students will be expected to know how to read, speak, and write decimals to the thousandths place. To begin, they will understand the relationship between decimals and fractions, why the decimal places moves when multiplying and dividing by ten, how to compare decimals, and mixed numbers including decimals.

ELA: In ELA, students will follow the regular procedures for Spalding. In writing, students will refine their understanding and skills by studying specific writing traits. In Prince Caspian, students will be reading chapters 10-14.

History: Having spent time discussing the impact of the Boston Massacre, students will now reflect on the changing opinion of the colonists toward the British and how the Boston Tea Party was a result of the colonists’ ill feelings toward the British. There is a test on chapters 1-10 at the beginning of week five.

Science: In science next week, students will continue to look at the impact of the molten asthenosphere by studying hot springs, geysers, and mountains. This will also include a look at geological features in the depths of the ocean. The Electricity review quiz will be on Monday, and the Life Science review quiz will be later this week.

Also reminder that Athletic Field Day is Friday (February 2nd) this week. I believe 4A will win the gold!
