Here comes summer break!

We are officially on our last week of school! The time has flown by, especially these last few weeks. I'm so happy I was given the opportunity to teach in 4A. I can't express how much I will miss being in this classroom. Here's what to expect this week:


Language Arts: Students will conclude their reading of Rip Van Winkle. In grammar, there will be a final grammar test.

Math: Students will conclude a unit on volume. The year ends with a review of multiplication facts. There will be a cumulative test on Monday.

Science: Students conclude the unit on the respiratory system, studying the lungs and the airways.

History: Students will conclude a unit that looks at the first six Presidents of the United States

Reminder: May 23rd -May 25th are half days. Students will be released at 12:05. 

Our end of the year party is on Thursday!

Last Blog Post!


Thank you for spoiling me during teacher appreciation week! I know I'm lucky to be a teacher and work with your amazing children. Only two weeks of school left, so let's end this school year on a high note! Here's what to look forward to:

Language Arts: Students will explore a new story: Rip Van Winkle. In grammar, sentence diagramming and classification continues. One last week of Spalding brings new words and new markings.

Math: Students will complete a unit on measurements and shapes. The year ends with a review of multiplication facts. There will be a math test on Thursday.

Science: Students continue the unit on the respiratory system, studying the lungs and the airways. There will be a science test Tuesday.

History: Students will conclude a unit that looks at the first six Presidents of the United States. There will be a history test Wednesday.

And the count down begins...

We have exactly 15 school days left of school! Our field trip on Thursday was a blast. The students asked amazing questions to the physicians helping with the tour. I am always in awe of their sense of wonder. Here's what to look forward to this week:

Language Arts: Students will continue their journey in the Wonderful World of Oz. In grammar, sentence diagramming and classification continues. Spalding brings new words and new markings.

Math: Students will continue a unit on measurements, learning how to divide and multiply.

Science: Students begin a unit on the respiratory system, studying the lungs and the airways.This is a three-week unit.

History: Students will continue a unit that looks at the first six Presidents of the United States. There will be a quiz on Chapters 1-8 at the end of the week.


Reminder: The last day of clubs is Friday, May 11th

Exciting Week Ahead!

I can't believe we only one month until summer break! Time is truly flying by. This week will be exciting with the spring concert and field trip! Other things to look forward to this week:

Language Arts: Students will continue their journey in the Wonderful World of Oz. In grammar, sentence diagramming and classification continues. Spalding brings new words and new markings.

Math: Students will continue a unit on data collection. They learn about mean, median, and mode. There will be a test at the end of the week.

Science: Students continue the unit on the cardiovascular system, studying the heart, veins, and blood. This is a three-week unit.

History: Students will continue a unit that looks at the first six Presidents of the United States.


Reminder: Spring concert is on Wednesday, May 2nd. Field trip is on Thursday, May 3rd.

Halfway through Quarter 4!

It was unfortunate having to cancel the field trip, however we do have another field trip on May 3rd. Permission slips will go home this week. Keep your eyes open for them! Here's what else you can look forward to:

Math: Students will continue a unit on linear graphing and data collection. Next, they learn about mean, median, and mode.


Science: Students continue the unit on the cardiovascular system, studying the heart, veins, and blood. This is a three-week unit.

History: Students will begin a unit that looks at the first six Presidents of the United States.

Last day of testing!


Only one more day of AzMerit testing left! I know I'm excited to be done, I'm sure the students are ecstatic as well. It makes my teacher heart happy when I watch them go back and review all their answers before submitting their tests. Here's everything else to look forward next week:

Language Arts: Students will conclude AzMerit testing with a test on the second part of reading, on Monday. Later in the week, they begin their journey to the Wonderful World of Oz. In grammar, sentence diagramming and classification resumes.

Math: Students will conclude AzMerit testing with a test on the second part of math, on Monday. They then begin a unit on linear graphing and data collection.


Science: Students begin the unit on the cardiovascular system, studying the heart, veins, and blood. This is a three-week unit. There will be a quiz on Wednesday.

History: Students will continue a study on the creation of the United States Constitution. There will be a test on Thursday.

Reminder: Our field trip to the Arizona Capitol is on Friday!

AIMS Science and ELA and Math AzMerit Part 1 this week

Last week, our students completed the Writing portion of AzMerit. As I was observing them take it, I couldn't be more proud. I saw all the students take their time to make sure they wrote the best essay possible. I'm sure I'll see the same effort this week. Here's what's planned for this week:

Language Arts: Students will continue reviewing for the reading portion of the AzMerit test, which begins on Thursday.

Math: Students will revisit concepts from earlier the year in a review for the AzMerit test which begins on Thursday.

Science: Students will continue reviewing for the AIMS Science test, which is administered on Wednesday.

History: Students will continue a study on the creation of the United States Constitution.

Reminder: French and Fine Arts Night in on Wednesday, April 11th!
